Days of the Dead has everything a good upgrade game needs. You stand on your castle, and defend them against the incoming opponents (tower defense elements). You can use your bow to help with this. You can either upgrade with the EXP earned or it can be bought in a shop. So you get bigger, longer, bows and arrows. You can find amulets and gloves too. But that's not all, you can strengthen your walls, or use magic to destroy the enemy.
